About TaxAppCompare
TaxAppCompare is a free, independent site that compares tax software for UK landlords and sole traders. It lists every product on HMRC's Making Tax Digital for Income Tax software list, with filters, plus a landlord tax calculator, an MTD checker, a quarterly deadline calculator and plain-English guides. It is not affiliated with HMRC, GOV.UK or any software provider.
How we check facts
Every date, threshold and rule is taken from GOV.UK and HMRC pages, linked where it is used. MTD rules and the software list were read on 27 October 2026; landlord tax rules on 27 October 2026. Each page shows its own date. Software facts come from HMRC's software finder and are dated. We do not guess prices or features.
Who runs it
TaxAppCompare is run from the United Kingdom by Alts Directories, a small UK publisher of free tools and directories. It is not affiliated with HMRC, and a product being listed is not an HMRC recommendation.
